Biocompatibility and sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate and biodentine as root-end filling material: A systematic review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction This systematic review intended to compare the biocompatibility and sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and biodentine as root-end filling material. Materials and Methods A computerized literature search was performed on March 1, 2016, in MEDLINE, PubMed, and COCHRANE LIBRARY for data published from January 2011 to March 2016. Quality assessment of the selected studies was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines, 2009. Results A total of 12 in vitro studies were included in this review. Of these, four studies compared the biocompatibility and eight compared the sealing ability. With regard to biocompatibility, two articles showed biodentine to be better and two showed comparable results, while in the case of sealing ability, one article showed MTA to be better, six articles showed biodentine to be better, and the rest one article showed the comparable result. Conclusion It may be concluded that good sealing ability of biodentine along with its favorable biological properties show that materials can be used competently in clinical practice as a retrograde filling material. However, long-term assessment in clinical situations is necessary for further inferences.

Sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate and Biodentine as the root end filling material, using two different retro preparation techniques - An in vitro study
Aim: The purpose of this study is compare sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine as root end filling material, and also to compare the effect of different retro preparation techniques i.e. conventional bur v/s ultrasonic tips on sealing ability of both the root end filling materials. Materials and Methods: Totally, 40 extracted human single rooted teeth were decorona...

INTRODUCTION Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) was developed because existing materials did not have the ideal characteristics for orthograde or retrograde root-end fillings. MTA has been recommended primarily as a root-end filling material, but it has also been used in pulp capping, pulpotomy, apical barrier formation in teeth with open apexes, repair of root perforations, and root canal fillin...
متن کاملEndodontic Repair Filling Materials: A Review Article
The emergence of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as endodontic repair filling material has generated a lot of interest due to its superior sealing ability and biocompatibility. Although MTA possesses superior sealing ability to traditional endodontic repair filling materials, such as calcium hydroxide, but it has poor handling characteristics. A novel endodontic repair filling materials with s...

Aim of the Study The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the sealing ability of four root end filling materials mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)-Plus, Biodentine, MTA (MTA Angelus) and glass ionomer cement (GIC) using fluid filtration method. Materials and Methods Forty-four extracted, human single-rooted teeth were collected. The crown of each tooth was decoronated 2 mm above the c...
متن کاملEvaluation of the bond strength of root-end placed mineral trioxide aggregate and Biodentine in the absence/presence of blood contamination
OBJECTIVE Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has been accepted as an appropriate root-end filling material in endodontic microsurgery because of setting ability in the wet environment. The aim of this study was to assess the bond strength of root-end placed MTA and Biodentine (Septodont, Saint Maur des Fossés, France) in the absence/presence of blood contamination. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-e...
